Week 2: Thursday 04.05

Today we had our presentation and critique. We both agreed that our website idea wasn't working as well as we'd like, so came up with a new concept to present alongside our original page.

This is a play on Disney's 'The Little Mermaid', showing what effects plastic pollution has on marine life, and also on human beings. We both feel much more enthusiastic about this idea. We think it makes more of an initial impact, and feel there is more we can do with it.

We did still present both ideas as we wanted feedback on both before we made our decision. The first page is our mock-up using Ariel, and the second page is our original design, with some stills from our motion graphic on the side.

Notes from critique:

• We got some good feedback, and our group and Jason preferred the little mermaid page. 
• We need to work on hierarchy, on making our information accessible, readable and clear. 
• Too much going on with all the white lines - we need to make everything a bit cleaner and more simple.
• Now that we are using the Ariel page, we need to rethink our motion graphic slightly in regards to colour scheme and making sure the graphics work with our webpage style.

Going forward from this we will continue to refine our page, making sure there is a clear hierarchy of information. We will begin working on storyboarding our motion graphics for Monday's presentation.
